Carla Walker is editor of Oklahoma Humanities magazine, the biannual publication of Oklahoma Humanities, state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
She spearheaded the creation and launch of the magazine in 2008 and has edited the work of Pulitzer Prize-winners, poets laureate, bestselling authors, and scholars of national note. Walker is an award-winning interviewer with a background in writing and editing for professional journals, magazines, and cultural publications.
Under Walker’s editorship, Oklahoma Humanities magazine has garnered national and regional recognition with thirty-two journalism awards for writing, design, and best overall publication. Oklahoma Humanities has also been honored with the Oklahoma Heritage Distinguished Editorial Award, the State Historic Preservation Officer’s Citation of Merit, and was a finalist for the 2017 Great Plains Magazine of the Year.
